Jacquie Beltrao targeted by sick scammers using cancer fight to fool fans with fake fundraiser

Jacquie Beltrao has been targeted by sick scammers using her cancer fight to fool fans with a fake fundraiser.

The horrified Sky News presenter took to Instagram to beg fans not to be taken in by the duplicate page, which was contacting many and asking for money.

Sharing a screengrab, she wrote: "PLEASE everyone this is someone impersonating me for money - I do not have a private account - they have copied all my content please DO NOT interact with them - I have reported it to Instagram."

In response, a concerned fan said they had been sent a picture of a woman in hospital by the page.

They wrote: "Yes just had them asking me for money. They have even sent me a picture of you in hospital which is definitely like you. I am so, so sorry Jacquie."

The scam comes after the Dublin-born presenter spent the year fighting a resurgence of the breast cancer she first developed seven years ago.

The 55-year-old revealed in June that the cancer had come back in a "more aggressive" form.

The mother-of-three later told Lorraine Kelly she found it "really hard to deal with" her illness returning.

"It was really hard to deal with at first because it was worse than last time", she said, "it was more aggressive.

"It's a grade three stage four, which means I will probably be dealing with this for all of my life."

Olympic gymnast turned sports reporter Jacquie is just the latest celeb to be the target of Instagram scammers.

EastEnders star Jake Wood complained about a clone account on Thursday.

And a similar thing happened to Gogglebox star Sophie Sandiford last month.

She sent out a message to her followers, saying: "Sorry if anyone has been receiving messages from a fake account this evening.

"Thankfully I think the account has been taken down."
