Jacqui Lambie apologises for 'rant' towards Qantas staff

Jacqui Lambie says she has "apologised profusely" after she "went on a rant". (ABC News: Erin Cooper)

Tasmanian Senator Jacqui Lambie has reportedly been banned from using all Qantas services for six months, after abusing staff members at Melbourne Airport in March.

Nine newspapers had reported Senator Lambie reacted badly to being told by airline staff she was unable to access the Chairman's Lounge.

Nine reported that after negotiations with Senator Lambie, the airline suspended her for six months from early April.

Appearing on Nine's Today Show this morning, Senator Lambie apologised to Qantas staff.

"They should never have worn that and it was really unfair of me to do that to them. So once again, I'm extremely apologetic for my behaviour for that few minutes."

Senator Lambie later took to social media to say reports she made a homophobic remark were wrong and it "never happened".

"I'm not a homophobe, and I don't know why someone is anonymously accusing me of being one," she wrote on her Twitter page.

"What did happen was I blew my top at a Qantas worker who didn't deserve it, and I apologised to them, I'll apologise now, and I'll wear the consequences.

"Anyone who knows me knows it's something I'd never do."
