Jacoby Brissett showed promise in OT loss to Chargers

The Indianapolis Colts had a number of issues that led to the 30-24 overtime loss against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, but quarterback Jacoby Brissett wasn’t one of them.

Entering the game as one of the team’s question marks, Brissett showed up, blocked the noise out and led the offense to a strong comeback. At one point in the third-quarter, the Colts were down 15 points.

However, Brissett led the offense to a comeback and showed Sunday that he has the type of skill set that can keep the Colts competitive each and every week.

Leading a balanced offense, the Colts’ new starting quarterback completed 21 of 27 pass attempts for 190 yards, two touchdowns and a 120.7 passer rating. He even had a potential third touchdown pass to tight end Eric Ebron get ruled incomplete.

While running back Marlon Mack stole the show with 174 rushing yards, Brissett showed that his connection with wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is getting stronger. The two hooked up on eight of nine targets for 87 yards and two touchdowns—the second of which set up the game-tying two-point conversion with 38 seconds left in the third quarter.

The Colts will have some issues to work out as the weeks come and go, but Brissett proved that he can compete against the best of teams.
