Jacoby Brissett’s new contract runs through 2020

The Indianapolis Colts have agreed to a contract extension that will lock up starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett for the next two seasons, and some more details are coming out about the new deal.

One of the questions, though, with the reported contract extension is whether it replaces his current rookie contract or if it was added on to it. It appears we have an answer as the extension reportedly runs through the 2020 season, per Mike Chappell of Fox59.

The two-year deal is reportedly worth $30 million with $20 million guaranteed. The Colts have their starter locked up for two seasons and will have Brissett eligible to hit free agency following the 2020 campaign.

While Brissett likely could have waited until after this season to seek a bigger contract—from the Colts or otherwise—he gets a solid deal right now that secures his future for the next two seasons.

Now, we know that Brissett will be playing under a much bigger contract in 2019 and will be tied to the Colts through the 2020 season.
