Tory minister Jacob Rees-Mogg took his 12-year-old son Peter with him to their local polling station today.
It is one of the Commons leader's first sightings in public since by saying Grenfell victims could have saved themselves if they used “common sense” and fled the burning tower block.
The Parliamentary candidate for North East Somerset was accompanied by his eldest son Peter Theodore Alphege Rees-Mogg to West Harptree Memorial Hall in the Chew Valley this morning (December 12).
Peter, one of seven, is well-known for dressing in near-identical outfits to his father.
On this occasion, they both wore trench coats, though Peter's was grey tweed and Jacob's black. Both coats were adorned with giant Conservative rosettes.
The rain was pelting down outside the polling station, but the older Rees-Mogg used a Somerset County Cricket Club umbrella to keep himself and Peter dry.
We have contacted him to ask why his 12-year-old was not in school at the time.
The pair are often seen in public together, with Peter even having joined Jacob on the campaign trail in previous elections.
It is unknown if Peter canvassed with his father in this General Election campaign, as the minister has rarely been spotted in public over the last month.
The Brexiteer MP candidate tweeted today to say he had cast his ballot.
He has held the North East Somerset seat since 2010. He was returned in 2017 with an 18.9 percent majority.
