Jacob Rees-Mogg keeps job as Leader of the Commons despite Grenfell comments

Jacob Rees Mogg has kept his job as Leader of the House of Commons despite his offending the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.

He was forced to apologise after he said the after he said the stay-put policy issued by the fire service had limited people’s chances of survival and he would have ignored it.

He told the LBC radio host Nick Ferrari that if either of them had been in a fire they would “leave the burning building” and ignore the London fire brigade.

That November 4 interview came after the notorious picture of him slouched across the Government frontbench during a crunch debate, provoking the anger of MPs and voters.

Mr Rees Mogg disappeared during the general election campaign hoping the controversy would blow over.
