Jacob Blake has moved from a Milwaukee hospital to an out-of-state spinal cord center after he was shot seven times in the back by a white police officer in Kenosha, Wisconsin, six weeks ago.
Blake, 29, is "in a spinal injury rehabilitation center in Chicago," his lawyer Patrick Cafferty said, according to CNN. "I can't provide more details."
Cafferty declined to elaborate on the timing of Blake's move or how long his treatment at the spinal center is expected to last.
The caught-on-video shooting sparked several nights of unrest amid widespread criticism of the use of force.
Officer Ryan Sheskey, who is white, shot Blake, who is Black, Aug. 23 while responding to a domestic disturbance call. The shooting took place as Blake was turned away from the officer, trying to enter his vehicle with three of his kids watching.
His family said the shooting left Blake paralyzed from the waist down. Attorney Ben Crump later said relatives were "praying it's not permanent."
The protests that followed Blake's shooting led to clashes, including one that turned deadly.
Prosecutors have charged Illinois resident Kyle Rittenhouse, 17, with shooting two men to death and wounding another during one of the demonstrations.
