Several hundred people joined the family of Jacob Blake to march through the streets of Kenosha Saturday, six days after he was shot in the back by a police officer in the southeast Wisconsin city.

The march started about 2 p.m. near the Boys and Girls Club of Kenosha, where the phrase “Black Lives Matter” was emblazoned across numerous marchers’ shirts, face masks and signs.

Jacob Blake’s uncle, Justin Blake, addressed the crowd before the crowd began marching toward the Kenosha County Courthouse, which has been the focal point of protests that turned violent earlier this week, but have remained peaceful in recent days.

“No justice, no peace,” Justin Blake said, echoed by a group diverse in ages and races.

The Kenosha police shooting of Blake has sparked protests nationwide. Chicago police are expecting demonstrations downtown Saturday evening.
