Jackson Irvine set for Hibs move as Jack Ross looks to seal deal for Aussie midfielder

Hibs are closing in on the signing of former Celtic midfielder Jackson Irvine.

The Australian international has been a free agent since leaving Hull in the summer after refusing to play in their post Covid-break games.

Jack Ross will strengthen his midfield with the signing of Irvine, with a medical expected at Easter Road soon.

The 27-year-old started his career at Celtic and then had spells with Kilmarnock and Ross County.

The Daily Record report that Ross is 'hopeful' of getting a deal tied up, although it's unlikely that it would be in time for tomorrow night's trip to face Celtic on Monday night.

He'll become Hibs' second signing of the January window after goalkeeper Matt Macey joined from Hibs earlier this week.

The giant stopper is likely to make his debut at Celtic Park with Ofir Marciano out injured.

Chris Cadden is also wanted by Ross as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of a European push in the second half of the season.
