Jack Ross has confirmed further contract talk with Jackson Irvine.
But they won’t resume until after the Scottish Cup final a week on Saturday.
The Australian midfielder has been a successful addition to the Hibs squad that clinched third in the Scottish Premiership table last night with a 1-0 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.
They have Celtic to play at Easter Road before attention can turn to the big one against St Johnstone at Hampden on 22 May.
And given what’s still at stake for the Hibees despite last night’s win, both Ross and Irvine are content to sit down again once the season has finished and see where they are.
Ross said: “I had a good conversation with Jackson last week. He’s still got things to weigh up and he knows our position on it.
“Because of the significance of the games we had lying ahead, we agreed to speak again at the end of the season.
“I actually said to him that he’s done well because he’s bought himself another week’s time by getting to the cup final!
“I was comfortable with it and so was he. We’re still hopeful and positive, and I think we’re still a very serious option for him moving forward.
“So, once we get the league games out of the way and the cup final then for both parties we’ll have to then bring it to a conclusion.”
