Jackson Hastings is tipping his former teammate Cade Cust to shine in the Super League after making the move to Wigan Warriors.
Hastings left the Warriors at the end of the 2021 campaign to join NRL outfit Wests Tigers but it’s fair to say he knows plenty about the man Wigan have replaced him with.
The half-back spent time alongside Cust in the reserve grade at Manly Sea Eagles before making the move to join Salford Red Devils in 2018.
As such, he is more than aware of Cust’s strengths and he believes he is just what Matty Peet needs in order to help Wigan become Super League title contenders once more.
“I think Cade will fit into the club perfectly and it’s style of play under Matty,” Hastings tweeted.
“Hopefully he can go one better than me!”
Hastings’ comments come after Cust told Rugby League Live about how he was aiming to emulate his success in the Northern Hemisphere.
The 23-year-old signed for Wigan last month, penning a two-year deal and he has already started work under Peet as he aims to settle into life at the DW Stadium quickly.
Cust made 27 first-grade appearances with the Sea Eagles, scoring nine tries, but he’ll hope for more regular game time in Cherry and White either as a stand-off or as a scrum-half.
