Jackie Weaver refuses to rule out Strictly Come Dancing 2021 appearance

Internet sensation Jackie Weaver has refused to rule out an appearance on this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

She hit the headlines earlier this year when a meeting of Handforth Parish Council that she was hosting went viral after councillors lost their cool and traded insults - leading to her kicking chairman Brian Tolver off the Zoom call.

Bookmakers have now given 10/1 odds of her signing up for Strictly.

She has also spoken of her love for dancer Anton Du Beke and was asked about whether she was set to appear on the 2021 during an appearance on BBC Breakfast on Wednesday.

When asked if Anton was her "ultimate hero", she said: "Busted".

When probed further about appearing on the show this year, she said: “There is no scoop here."

Presenter Dan Walker said: "Is that it? Is that a denial?" She laughed heartily and replied: "This is the month of politics. No politician gives you a direct answer to a question."

When Dan and colleague Louise Minchin asked her again if she would star on the show, she said: "Please don't interrupt me."

A clip of the December 10 meeting, which was put on Twitter in February, had been viewed more than three million times less than 24 hours after being posted.

Jackie's performance saw her became an overnight internet sensation and she has joked about her future appearances on screen.

She has been linked to the dancing show ever since. In February, she said: “I’m not quite sure the nation is ready for me to take part in Strictly. But never say never.”
