Jackie MacMullen says Jaylen Brown is working with agent Jason Glushon

Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown has long been hesitant to hire an agent, opting for specialists and advisors to help with career decisions.

Back in December 2018, he insisted that this would remain the case even as he became eligible for a potentially massive contract extension. Earlier this month, he told the Boston Sports Journal that he “liked how it is now” when asked about his agent situation.

But there were other indications a change was on the way considering Adam Himmelsbach reported last month that the Boston wing considering hiring some representation as he sought a new contract (via Boston Globe):

Brown has made it through three years without an agent. His mother has handled a lot of the responsibilities, and he has worked with a marketing executive. And that was probably a savvy play on his part, as rookie contracts are locked in anyway. But these negotiations are different. One league source said it appears that Brown will retain an agent for these talks.

On the most recent episode of ESPN’s Hoop Collective Podcast, we learned an update.

Around the 11-minute mark, Brian Windhorst asked Jackie MacMullan to confirm if Brown was still working without an agent. The veteran ESPN reporter said that was “not true” and that Brown was actually now with Jason Glushon.

The agent played both collegiate and minor league baseball and previously worked at Wasserman before opening his own shop.

Other clients currently represented by Glushon include former Boston big man Al Horford and New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday. Both players agreed to contracts worth over $100 million the summer he founded Glushon Sports Management.

USA TODAY Sports Media Group has reached out to Glushon for comment and will update this story with further information.
