Jack Wilshere has been told it would be a bad idea to move to Rangers because of the plastic pitches in the Scottish Premiership.
Celtic flop Carlton Cole insists the former Arsenal midfielder would be making the wrong choice if he moved north of the border as he blamed the surfaces for his poor spell in Scotland.
Cole played just five times for Celtic and was released after one season despite signing a two-year deal.
And the 36-year-old reckons it would be a struggle for Wilshere as well because he'd be unable to play on the artificial pitches that are in three stadiums in Scotland's top flight at Kilmarnock, Livingston and Hamilton.
Wilshere has been heavily linked with a move to Rangers after being released by West Ham on deadline day and posted a cryptic message on social media where he hinted his next move would come soon.
But Cole fired a warning to him as he told talkSPORT: "It would be a bit too cold for him.
"Plus you guys up there have artificial pitches.
"When I played up there I had knee problems but some of the grounds had astroturf and I couldn’t play.
"As soon as I play on it or train on it I’m out for a week with swollen knees so it wouldn’t be great for him."
Rangers legend Ally McCoist was alongside Cole on the show and he called for them to be banned from top level football.
He added: "Carlton is spot on. I understand the financial implications, but I’m against top level football being played on it."
