Jack Wilshere has already delivered honest verdict on Arsenal transfer target amid £35m talks

Jack Wilshere has already endorsed Arsenal's proposed move to sign Manchester City star Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The north Londoners are keen to bolster the left side of their defence in this summer's transfer window, football.london understands. Ajax star Lisandro Martinez had been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, although the Argentine international looks more likely to reunite with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United instead.

Now, The Athletic have reported that City fullback Zinchenko is the Gunners' priority target, a move that Arsenal hero Wilshere has previously endorsed. “He’s (Zinchenko) someone I really like, obviously he worked with Mikel at City,” he told talkSPORT last month when asked about a potential move.

"So, if Mikel wants him, there is a reason he wants him. Arsenal are pretty strong in that area, with Tierney. So I wouldn’t say that they really, really need him.

"But one thing about Zinchenko is that when he plays for Ukraine, he plays in midfield.

"He can adapt to different positions, he’s versatile. If he comes to Arsenal I’d be happy with that.”

Arsenal have already spent in excess of £80million this summer, bringing in four first-team players in the form of Fabio Vieira, Gabriel Jesus, Matt Turner and Marquinhos. And the Gunners will have to shell out around £35million for the aforementioned Zinchenko, according to The Daily Mail.
