Jack Wilshere and Didi Hamann disagree on Mikel Arteta's Arsenal future amid slump in form

Former Liverpool star Didi Hamannthinks his former side will soon lose patience with head coach Mikel Arteta.

After a solid run that saw the Gunners avoid defeat in ten, Arteta's side have lost three of their last four matches - falling to seventh in the current Premier League standings.

Their most recent defeat came at Goodison Park on Monday night as Everton, who had lost six of their seven matches before facing the north Londoners, secured a 2-1 victory thanks to a stunning injury-time winner from Demarai Gray.

Now, Hamann has admitted he has been surprised that Arteta is still in the job, claiming the loss against the Toffees was a particularly bad one.

"I'm surprised they've stuck with him, and I think patience will come to an end at some stage," Hamann told FreeSuperTips when asked if the Gunners should persist with Arteta as manager.

"The game against Everton was a really bad loss, Everton weren't good, and Arsenal were fortunate to be a goal ahead after Richarlison had one disallowed.

"You just have to win these sorts of games and if you don't it brings pressure, which has really been the case for the past 18 months.

"I think it'll be difficult to finish in the top six and I am a bit surprised he's still there, but he has history with the club. I think he's got to start winning games consistently otherwise his time will be up, but I don’t think it’ll come as a shock when it happens."

However, former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere doesn't think the same as Hamann, claiming that Arteta will be at the club for the next decade after he was asked who he would rather as Gunners manager, Steven Gerrard or Frank Lampard last month.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Wilshere said: "None of them because Mikel is going to be there for the next 10 years.

“I can’t [answer that]. I don’t know. I can’t! I wouldn’t have any of them, it’s Mikel – they’re the same age.”
