Jack Wilshere insists he has got “unfinished business” at West Ham and says he is determined to prove himself to David Moyes.
England midfielder Wilshere, 28, has endured a frustrating two years at the Hammers because of injury and a groin problem which meant he was unable to play when Moyes took over.
But fit-again Wilshere says he is still hungry to get back playing and is keeping fit during lockdown so he can play again when football resumes.
Wilshere had been offered a new deal by Arsenal two years ago but opted to join West Ham because he hoped he would get more regular games.
Ex-Arsenal midfielder Wilshere said: “I still feel like I’ve got unfinished business at West Ham. It’s not worked out how I wanted it to and I want to change that.
“I don’t want to, when I’m done at West Ham, I don’t want West Ham fans to think: ‘that was a waste of time.’
“I want to show them what I can do and when you get your opportunity you have to take it and that is my opportunity and show the manager what I can do.
“Again, we’ve got a new manager who has not seen me play yet, not seen me on the training field and it’s like a fresh start for me and I’m looking forward to it.”
Wilshere is keen to take up coaching after his playing career and has helped support the NCF London Elites which has regular coaching and training sessions.
