Jack Whitehall's girlfriend collapsed backstage at the BRITs and had to be resuscitated

Jack Whitehall has revealed his girlfriend had to be resuscitated by paramedics after collapsing backstage at the Brit Awards.

Comedian Jack's girlfriend Roxy Horner had no idea she had Type 1 diabetes before the health scare.

Jack, 34, revealed his girlfriend Roxy, 31, was taken to hospital following the terrifying ordeal at the Brit Awards in 2021.

It was that night when Roxy was diagnosed with diabetes.

Roxy suffered what is known as a diabetic hypo, which caused her to faint.

According to the NHS, a diabetic hypo, also called hypoglycaemia, "is where the level of sugar (glucose) in your blood drops too low".

Jack revealed: "She had something called a diabetic hypo and she fainted.

"Paramedics were trying to resuscitate her and her sugar levels were spiking dangerously.

"We ended up in A&E on the night of the Brits, which definitely made for a slightly different vibe of an after-party," he said according to The Sun.

Jack then joked how the previous year at the BRITs he was "hobnobbing with Stormzy and Elton John" but in 2021 he was "sitting in the emergency room of an A&E unit" sitting beside a man who "smelled of Special Brew".

After her diagnosis, Roxy now wears an electronic device to monitor her blood glucose level.

Roxy has also opened up on her health ordeal in the past.

Opening up to her 199k Instagram followers, she explained: "I've been having a really rough time managing my glucose levels the past few weeks, they are yo-yoing for absolutely no reason.

"I throw up when I go too high and I've had a few too many hypos for my liking lately."

And, in an interview last year, Roxy praised Jack for being supportive with her health.

She told The Sun on Sunday at the time: "He was there when I got diagnosed. My parents and my family live in Australia, so he has been my family. We’re amazing.

"I felt extremely tired and exhausted for a long time, I had no energy. I couldn’t even go for a walk, it was draining, I felt like I was dying. I was drinking four to eight litres of water a day."

Roxy and Jack met while the comedian was in Australia. The pair later isolated together in Jack's London pad during the coronavirus pandemic.

Roxy previously dated Jack Bugg, whom she split from in December 2019, and has also been linked to Joey Essex and Leonardo DiCaprio, although she denied ever being more than friends with the Titanic star.

Meanwhile, Jack was previously linked to Kirsty Gallacher and previously dated Gemma Chan for six years before their split in 2017.
