Jack Walker teases injury return again after new training footage emerges

Jack Walker has teased Leeds Rhinos fans with a new injury update showing him running for the first time in months.

The fullback, who has missed the entire season with a reoccurrence of a lisfranc injury, is beginning to speed up his recovery.

Walker took to Instagram to post videos of him running for the first time in months as his return to the field gets closer.

Though he is expected to be out for the season, Walker hinted in a cryptic post last month that he could return sooner than expected.

Now he has confirmed he is running, another positive step as he looks to work his way back.

Walker has now missed almost 18 months of action. After suffering the injury initially before the Covid-19 lockdown, he had surgery that allowed him to return once the Super League season restarted. However, he was kept out of the side in large by Richie Myler, who was selected for the Challenge Cup Final win over Salford Red Devils.

Upon his return to pre-season training, it was confirmed he would need further surgery in an attempt to fully recover.

When asked about his injury status, head coach Richard Agar was coy on Walker's recovery.

“If we see Jack this season, that would be a really welcome addition and testament to his rehab," Agar said.

“He’s in a really positive frame of mind and you can see he’s made some improvements to his body.

“He’s had a foot injury but at the same time he’s used his time really wisely to stick on a little bit himself upstairs.

“He’s a very determined bloke and he’s rehabbed himself really well."

However, the latest footage suggests he's well on the way.
