Jack Simpson surprises Rangers fans with birthday phone calls as he leaves one supporter speechless

New Ibrox signing Jack Simpson surprised Rangers fans with a phone call to wish them a happy birthday.

The Deadline Day signing from Bournemouth caught two supporters completely off guard with the brilliant gesture prior to the Premiership win over St Johnstone on Wednesday night.

And one Rangers fan Jamie was almost speechless as he couldn't believe the defender had rung him out of the blue on his special day.

Simpson said: "Hi Jamie, it's Jack Simpson.

Jamie replied: "Who?"

Simpson responded: "It's Jack Simpson from Rangers.

Jamie said: "Alright."

Simpson carried on: "I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday and thanks for all your support for the club and hope you enjoy the game this evening."

Jamie replied: "Cheers mate."

Simpson then phoned another supporter and, although it wasn't nearly as awkward, the fan couldn't believe he was talking to the new Rangers defender.

You can watch both conversations above.

Meanwhile, Simpson and Scott Wright could be in line for their debuts against Hamilton on Sunday.

Steven Gerrard said: "We have to be a bit more patient with him [Simpson] because it's different in terms of the Covid testing.

"Scott [Wright]'s Covid test from Aberdeen covered him to join in a little bit more quickly so he’s had one or two sessions and now he's a little bit further ahead.

"But quite possibly you could see both at the weekend. They're both fit, well and ready - and available which is a real positive for me."
