Jack Simpson struck by Rangers 'silent work ethic' as he reveals his instant connection with Scott Wright

Inspired Jack Simpson admits he was struck by the "silent work ethic" underpinning Rangers ' success.

The defender - a January window arrival from Bournemouth - insists the unspoken diligence with which his team-mates conduct themselves has upped his determination to improve.

Simpson has made only two cameo appearances since joining Steven Gerrard 's side as he adjusts to life at Ibrox, with Cherries team-mate Nnamdi Ofoborh set to follow him north this summer.

Speaking ahead of Sunday's Scottish Cup clash with Cove Rangers, Simpson insisted he's made absolutely the right decision in moving to Glasgow.

He told Rangers TV: "I think before I even came here I think that taking my game to the next level was something that was in my mind.

"I felt like it was the best place for me to come to do that.

"And since being here just the work ethic, what's expected of you, the silent work ethic that everyone puts in that doesn't need to be said and is just expected is going to push you as a player and as a person.

"I feel like it's definitely the best place for me to progress as a player."

Simpson has struck a bond with fellow New Year arrival Scott Wright, who signed from Aberdeen in the closing days of the transfer window.

The 24-year-old revealed he and the former Dons attacker struck up an "instant connection"

"Me and Scott Wright coming at the same time has helped," Simpson said.

"You know (we were) going through the same thing at the same time so you have an instant connection and bond with that.

"With him being from up here and playing in the league he knows a lot more thing about it than I do so if I ask him a question he always knows the answer.

"It's hard to pick out one player because the group are very welcoming and have made me feel very comfortable.

"Everyone has helped me ease in, not just the experienced boys but the younger ones too."
