Jack Ross sets out Hibs Scottish Cup ambitions as he lifts the lid on pre-season 'driver'

Hibs boss Jack Ross admits he's been targeting the Scottish Cup Final since pre-season as he urged his side to secure their place in the Hampden showpiece.

The capital club cruised in the quarter-finals with a 4-0 win over Stranraer at Stair Park, setting up a home tie with Motherwell.

Hibs have reached the semi-finals in their last three cup runs, and the manager has urged his stars to go one better this time around.

Ross said: "Our approach to the game was excellent. I spoke about the respect we needed to show the opposition before the match but the way we went about the game was good.

"The playing surface was tricky at times and you could argue the case for scoring more goals but pleased with what we did here today.

“Post international break, we’ve had the two cup ties and the league fixture at Ibrox and in those three games, the performance level has been good. It’s about continuing that momentum.

"The group have set standards over the course of the season and they recognise it’s a big week for us. They recognise that it’s a really important league game for us on Wednesday against Livingston and then the quarter-final of the cup, but the group are in a good place for it.

"They feel good individually and the forward players are scoring goals which is nice all the time to have. So we’re looking forward to not only the week that lies ahead but hopefully the last four or five weeks of the season.

“[To reach the final] is the ambition for us and it’s been the driver for us since pre-season. We’ve got an opportunity now to get closer to that by winning the game today, but we face tough opponents next weekend who will be a step up.”
