Jack Ross reacts to reports linking him with the vacant Scotland manager's job

Jack Ross has reacted to reports linking him with the vacant Scotland managerial post by insisting he still has work to do on Wearside.

The Sunderland manager is reportedly one of several names on the shortlist drawn up by Scottish FA chief executive Ian Maxwell as he searches for a successor to Alex McLeish, who was sacked last week.

But Ross has given the reports short-shrift, saying he is happy at Sunderland and is fully-focused on helping the Black Cats achieve promotion to the Championship.

"Nowadays there is a huge amount of speculation that surrounds any managerial vacancy, whether it is the national team or a club job," said Ross.

"I said last week one, how much I enjoy the job here, and two, how much work I still have to do to feel fulfilled in what I have done in the job.

"So that's where I am at.

"And you can imagine that on the back of Monday's game, and then ahead of Saturday, I haven't had much time to think about anything more than winning against Portsmouth on Saturday."

Ross, 42, led St Mirren to promotion to the Scottish Premiership last season before taking charge at the Stadium of Light in the summer.

His current contract with the Black Cats has another 12 months still to run.
