Jack Ross picks out key area of concern for Hibs in 'unusual' Celtic defeat

Jack Ross has bemoaned Hibernian's lack of cutting edge in their insipid defeat to Celtic as the Easter Road boss reiterated his desire to bring in reinforcements before the end of the transfer window.

The Leith outfit sank to their first away loss of the campaign as goals from Callum McGregor, Albian Ajeti and Mohamed Elyounoussi sealed a comfortable three points for Neil Lennon's side.

The Hibees rarely threatened in a toothless performance and failed to register any shots on target among their nine attempts.

Ross said he had "no complaints" over the end result, but was left frustrated by the dearth of clear cut opportunities carved out by his side.

He told BBC Scotland: "I've no complaints over the end result, but first half I thought we were very good, there were aspects of our performance that were very good, we found ourselves in good areas of the pitch regularly, but were not clinical enough.

"It's unusual for us because we're normally very good at that. We just fell a little bit short today but our working to get ourselves into that area of the pitch was good."

The Easter Road boss remains desperate to bolster his midfield with another signing before the transfer window slams shut on October 5.

Hibs missed out on the signings of former Rangers duo Greg Docherty and Ross McCrorie, while former Dundee United midfielder Scott Fraser opted to remain in England when courted by Ross and sporting director Graeme Mathie.

However, the Easter Road boss is determined he can add to his squad before the deadline.

He said: "We still need to [bring players in]. If we want to stay where we are in the league there are one or two areas of the pitch we need to address."
