Jack Ross laments unacceptable Hibs performance in Celtic defeat as set-piece woes pain Easter Road boss

Hibs boss Jack Ross has blasted his team after their fourth defeat on the bounce.

Ross said their performance in the 3-1 defeat to Celtic at Easter Road last night was "not acceptable" and he fumed at the goals they gave away at set-pieces.

The Hibees' gaffer described them as "cheap" as Anthony Ralston, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Kyogo Furuhashi put them to the sword in the first half an hour before Martin Boyle pulled one back before half time.

It's been a poor run for the Leith men as they've fallen away from the chasing pack at the top of the Premiership table behind Rangers.

And Ross lamented as he reflected on another disappointing day at the office.

"The first half cost us the game," he said.

"The manner of the performance and the manner of the goals we conceded - two from set-pieces against a team that doesn't carry a big aerial threat - is not good enough.

"All-round, we weren't competitive or aggressive enough in terms of how we pressed Celtic.

"We got a little bit of a lifeline, scoring, and then in the second half the players did respond and produced a good performance, but that first half period is not acceptable in terms of where we need to be at.

"It's frustrating when you concede anyway, full stop.

"But we built success last season in the league on solid foundations of keeping clean sheets and defending our box well.

"Right now, thus far this season, we haven't done it.

"We have continue to work diligently, hard and relentlessly on the training pitch to rectify it and will continue to do so until we get it right on the pitch.

"You can't give good teams cheap goals and we did that in the opening 15 minutes."
