Jack Ross is Sunderland's biggest asset - Niall Quinn's verdict on the Black Cats boss

Niall Quinn has revealed Sunderland's biggest asset won't be on the pitch on Sunday - he'll be sitting in the manager's seat.

The Black Cats hero has been hugely impressed with the way Jack Ross has conducted himself in his debut season in English football.

And ahead of Sunday's League One play-off final against Charlton, Quinn feels Ross will have his side prepared and ready to shine on the Wembley stage.

"I think Jack Ross is the biggest asset Sunderland have," he told Quest. "I like him. I was a bit worried Scotland were going to try and poach him there.

"I love his professionalism, dedication and under-announced ability that he doesn’t shout from the roof-tops about how good he is as a lot of managers do.

"He’s a players man, I think the players have really responded to that. He hasn’t had heaps of investment and he’s inherited players in the dressing room who weren’t carrying their weight.

"He had eight games to play in April and it just caught them out in the end but hopefully they’ll be refreshed for Sunday.

"I’m sure he’ll have them get their tactics spot on and they’ll put in a performance that brings them back to the Championship."
