Jack Ross insists Hibs wrongly denied as bemused boss questions disallowed Ryan Porteous goal at Rangers

Jack Ross insists Hibs had a goal wrongly disallowed during their defeat to Rangers on Sunday.

The Easter Road boss was bemused referee Don Robertson blew for a foul after Ryan Porteous turned the ball into the Ibrox side's net with the score at 2-0.

Ross ' men were beaten by goals from Joe Aribo and Ryan Kent and couldn't claw their way back despite Kevin Nisbet reducing the arrears.

And the Hibs manager is adamant Porteous did not impede Filip Helander in the build-up.

He said: "At the time I couldn't put up a strong argument because I can't see closely enough.

"I did ask why the foul had been given but the fourth official didn't know at the time.

"As always, I get the opportunity to see it before I come and speak and it's not a foul.

"But that happens through course of every single game, some decisions go for you, some go against you.

"But if you're asking me 'is it a foul?', no, it's not a foul.

"I don't think anybody would think it's a foul.

"It's body to body and that happens in the game. It's fine margins and moments in the game and that was obviously one of them."

Ross was also frustrated with ref Robertson after the referee booked Martin Boyle for diving and added: "As for Boyle's booking, we have to be careful we don't think, 'if it's not a penalty, it's a yellow card'.

"He shouldn't (get a reputation for diving). I will defend him because of how quickly he moves with the ball. I've no argument with the decision not to award a penalty. I just think we've got to be careful we don't think it has to be one or the other."
