Jack Ross insists Hibs improved after three-goal first half showing against Raith Rovers

Despite scoring three first half goals, Jack Ross insists Hibs were better in the second half of their final friendly win of the summer.

Raith Rovers were beaten 3-1 at Stark’s Park last night as the Hibees warmed up for the Europa Conference League showdown with Andorra’s Santa Coloma.

Goals from Ryan Porteous, Steven Bradley and Kevin Nisbet had the Easter Road side cruising by half-time, even allowing for Aidan Connolly’s late first-half strike in Iain Davidson’s testimonial.

There were no further goals after the break, but Ross was more satisfied with the display in the second 45 minutes than the first.

He said: “I didn’t think we were great in the first half; I know it sounds a little bit strange but I thought we were a wee bit sloppy in bits of our play but I think what we have within the group is quality and we showed that,” he said afterwards.

"The second half I thought we were much more in control of the game and probably played better but overall it’s been a good pre-season for us. Performance-wise we’ve been good; positive results help as well and it’s been a good week for us in that respect, and we’ve managed to get a lot of minutes into a lot of different players as well.”
