Jack Ross in furious Hibs blast as he makes 'angriest I've been' admission after Dundee United sickener

Raging Jack Ross took aim at his wasteful forwards after Hibs blew the chance to go back second.

The Easter Road boss admitted it was the angriest he’d been with his players all season after a glut of missed opportunities came back to bite in injury time.

The normally reliable Kevin Nisbet, Christian Doidge and Martin Boyle all passed up glaring opportunities as Dundee United keeper Benji Siegrist produced a man of the match performance.

And Ross said: “We should win the game with the amount of chances we’ve created throughout the match.

“It’s probably the angriest I have been with the players this season with making sure they get what they deserve from football matches because they deserved to win that.

“At half-time I don’t think I can be critical of the finishing because I think Siegrist’s saves were outstanding, really, really top saves.

“In the second half it flips a bit, I don’t think he makes brilliant saves - I think we miss opportunities.

“It’s not like us because generally we are ruthless and I can’t criticise the way we played for the vast majority of that game.

“But those missed opportunities came back to haunt us.”

The draw takes the shine off an otherwise excellent week for the Hibees after they booked a return to Hampden in the Betfred Cup.

And Ross said: “It’s a reminder to us in terms of what you have to do to make sure you’re a top team.

“We’ve got such high standards but to push towards where we want to get to we’ve got to be ruthless all the time.

“I don’t think we were under waves of attack and I still felt we would win the game. It only needs one major moment.

“The way the game finished is sore for us but we’ll dust ourselves down and go again on Wednesday.”
