Jack Ross hails Hibs season ticket boom as boss vows to repay loyalty on the pitch

Impressed Hibs gaffer Jack Ross has hailed fans for their show of financial faith after snapping up over 1000 season tickets since briefs went on sale last week.

The response meanssales have outstripped the numbers brought at the same period last year and represents a strong show of support in the face of growing uncertainty over when Premiership football will actually resume.

With the game shutdown for the foreseeable future and mystery surrounding what will happen to the current campaign, some fans took to social media to question the decision to begin the sale of season tickets for next term.

But the response has been overwhelmingly positive after new owner Ron Gordon admitted Hibs could not expect to be ‘immune’ to the financial fall-out from the global health crisis.

It has been reported that Ross, his backroom staff and the playing staff have held talks that could see a wage deferral put in place to ease the burden on the capital outfit.

However, in the meantime, officials have been thrilled with the way fans have rallied behind the club when they themselves are likely to have been affected financially by the COVID-19 lockdown.

And Ross has issued a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to supporters, pledging to repay their loyalty once football resumes.

He said: “First of all, I hope everyone and their families are safe and well.

“Second of all, having been told that we’ve already passed the 1,000 mark for season tickets sold, I want to offer a huge ‘thank you’ to all who have done so.

“It’s an incredible show of loyalty and support already, during what are very difficult times for everybody.

“That level of commitment from you, the supporters, is very much appreciated, not just from myself, the players and staff - but by everyone at the football club.

“We’re very much looking forward to repaying that loyalty with our performances on the pitch when we return to Easter Road.
