Jack Ross demands Hibs repeat Rangers semi-final performance tonight as he explains 'belief' at Easter Road

Jack Ross is looking for a repeat of the Hibs performance that dumped Rangers out of the League Cup tonight.

The Gers are in Leith this evening and the Hibees boss is hoping for a similar performance to their meeting at Hampden Park.

A hat-trick from Martin Boyle, who returns from suspension tonight, had their opponents down and out, with Connor Goldson questioning the hunger of the side.

However, Rangers have a new manager in Giovanni van Bronckhorst now and have won their first two games under his guidance, impressing against Sparta Prague and Livingston.

But Ross has confidence going into the fixture this evening.

He said: “The performance level (against Rangers), I’ve been pleased with, and I’ve referenced that a lot in the build up to the semi-final.

"The thing that was missing was the win. We put that right in the semi-final and we want to do that again.

"We believe that we can pose a threat, as we’ve shown in the games, and we have to play well, which goes without saying. We did that in the semi-final in all aspects of our game and we have to repeat that.

"We go into it with the belief we can win the game."

With van Bronckhorst in the technical area for this one, rather than sitting in the stand, the game could be much different to their last encounter.

Speaking about the tactics adopted by Rangers under their new manager, Ross said: "To date there’s been slight changes in their approach, certainly in the forward areas.

"But the games are being played by the same personnel that we’ve faced over the last couple years.

"The players are familiar with their individual or unit opponents and the attributes they have, and how well they need to play to get the better of them.

"Although there will be some changes, there’s a large degree of familiarity between the opponents."
