Jack Ross confirmed as Hibs boss as former Sunderland boss signs three-and-a-half-year deal

Hibs have confirmed the appointment of Jack Ross on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

The former St Mirren boss has only been out of work for a month after being sacked by Sunderland.

Record Sport exclusively revealed yesterday that Ross would replace Paul Heckingbottom, who was sacked on November 4 after a 5-2 defeat to Celtic in the Betfred Cup.

The hammering at Hampden added to the anger among supporters after a poor start to the season.

The 4-1 win over St Johnstone last Saturday was their first win since the opening weekend of the season.

Ross said: “I’m proud to have been named head coach of Hibernian Football Club.

“I think we all consider Hibernian to be one of the leading clubs in Scottish football – in terms of the history and passion of the supporters.

“It’s up to all of us to help the squad live up to that.

“We have some talented players, underpinned by a successful academy, and I’ll do everything I can to make sure we’re able to help every player fulfil his potential.”

Ross will first be in charge of Hibs when they take on Motherwell at Easter Road on November 23.

He then makes a quick return to Paisley with a clash against St Mirren three days later.

But Ross won't be able to call on his trusted assistant James Fowler after the former Queen of the South manager joined Kilmarnock as head of football operations.

Fowler had been his right hand man at St Mirren and Sunderland but decided to return to Rugby Park where he is a club legend.
