Jack Ross admits Rangers penalty snub frustration as Hibs boss makes 'no doubt' spot-kick claim

Jack Ross insists referee Willie Collum should have awarded Hibs at least one penalty in the defeat to Rangers.

The Hibees suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at Ibrox but had spot-kick claims as Joe Newell was kicked in the box by an Ianis Hagi clearance and Ryan Porteous being tripped by James Tavernier a corner.

Ross is firm in his belief that whistler Collum should have pointed to the spot in the Premiership defeat in Glasgow.

He told Sky Sports: "We should have had at least one. The Ryan Porteous one is a penalty kick. It's difficult for me to see at the time but watching it before I come out to speak to you I don't think there is any doubt that it's a penalty kick."

Ross was pleased with the showing from Easter Road men despite returning to the capital with a defeat.

The gaffer continued: "We are trying to grow a mentality at the club that we are never happy losing games and I think that was evident today.

"We are a disappointed changing room and we've not had that feeling often, but I want to accentuate the positives. That's probably as hard a game as Rangers have had here in the league and to push them as far as we did is testament to how far we have come.

"The way we set up today there was a risk and reward element to it.

"You're playing a team that moves the ball around well but we tried keep two strikers up the park and stay high and get good opportunities through that.

"We maybe didn't get enough of those but we had spells where we were good."
