Jack Ross admits Hibs uncertainty as he lays out strategy for Premiership restart

Jack Ross admits he’s still facing the unknown despite getting the go ahead to work with his Hibs squad once again.

The Scottish Government gave the green light to Premiership clubs to go back to training on June 11, providing it remains strictly non-contact.

Players had been limited to keeping themselves ticking over individually after all football was suspended in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But they now only have six days to wait before reuniting with their colleagues in order to work toward a provisional league curtain raiser on August 1.

That’s not set in stone though, which could require Ross to change things up depending on when the Hibees can get their season underway.

He told BBC Scotland : “It’s not very often we work with any sort of uncertainty.

“We work in a very regimented and structured industry.

“Whenever we do have a rest period such as the close season we always know when we’re returning.

“Even at the moment, we still have that lack of complete certainty over when the season will start again.

“If it goes beyond the first of August then it could impact upon the work we do when we do go back.

“But for us certainly as a club, we’re working on the basis that we’ll be starting on the first. It’s been challenging and it’s been fluid, but there’s a lot of other people facing challenges at the moment and we’re just looking forward to getting back to work.

“In terms of the on the pitch stuff, it’ll be the usual in terms of the numbers that we have to work with and the fact that it’s non-contact.

“But equally, those types of sessions occur through a season, whether it be with small groups or players returning from injury.

“So it won’t be too difficult to adjust. It’ll just be nice to be back at work for coaches, managers and players.”
