Jack P Shepherd has detailed a terrifying and traumatic ordeal that took place while he was innocently taking put his bins.

The Coronation Street star, 32, was viciously attacked by a giant rat which clung to his neck and then slithered down his body.

The David Platt actor recalled the horrific incident which happened recently during an appearance on his podcast Sofa Cinema Club with co-stars Colson Smith and Ben Price.

Last Sunday night, the soap star decided to tick off some chores before heading to bed.

Jack walked out of his Manchester home, which he shares with girlfriend Hanni Treweek, to take the bins out.

But after lifting the lid on the wheelie bin, the star completely froze when a huge rodent landed on his body.

The horrified Corrie star explained: "A rat attacked me. I was putting the bins out on Sunday night. I've told you before about the infestation of the rats in my area.

"It was night time. I had my big slippers on. I was pulling the wheelie bins out and as I'm dragging them up the street there must have been a rat in the bin.

"So the movement of me pulling the wheelie bins has disturbed him. He's gone to leap out of the bin and he's jumped on my f***ing neck! Behind my neck!".

The soap star added: "He sort of slithered down my body, and sort of rolled onto the floor. A great, fat, b******d rat. Massive. Slimy. He'd been in the bin!".

While he was completely disgusted by the nightime ordeal, Jack couldn't help but feel sorry for the homeless rodant.

The concerned star explained that after he screamed, the rat jumped and slammed to the ground where it landed on it's neck.

"He jumped, hit the neck, and might have hurt himself on the back of my neck because he rolled down my body for an eternity before he landed on the floor.

"I was bloody terrified. He ran off through someone's garden.

"The bin lid was open a bit because the bin bag didn't quite go in. I took all my clothes off and had to get a shower!".

Jack's rat revelation comes after the star has recently returned to the reopened Coronation Street set in Manchester.

Production has finally restarted following the COVID-19 shutdown.
