Jack Nowell praises Kyle Sinckler after Wales loss: 'I’d definitely rather be playing with him than against him'

Jack Nowell says he would rather be lining up alongside England team-mate Kyle Sinckler than against him - despite the prop coming under fire from the likes of Wales coach Warren Gatland.

Gatland aimed a dig at Sinckler ahead of Wales’ 21-13 victory over England in the Six Nations last Saturday, labelling him an “emotional time bomb”.

Sinckler came in for criticism again after the match after giving away two penalties in the second half, which were both converted.

Gatland twisted the knife and said: “He's a fantastic rugby player but he does have a few demons to deal with.”

However, Nowell has now defended the Harlequins prop and said: “I’d definitely rather be playing with him than against him.

“We’ve come in and Sinks has just been Sinks. He’s had a lot of media, a lot of heat on him but it’s just the type of player he is.

“He didn’t let that effect him in the game. He’s very passionate about what he does when he’s out there. I thought he did very well.

“For me to play in the same team as him and see him out there doing that is good. This week there’s been not a lot of change.”
