Jack Nicholson, 86, makes rare public outing for first time in two years at basketball game

The Shining actor Jack Nicholson has made a very rare public appearance, with the iconic Hollywood star looking happy and healthy while attending a Lakers basketball game for the first time in two years.

Watching the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday, April 28, Jack, 86, looked content and could even be seen smiling widely as he marvelled at the players on the court from the front row.

The retired actor, who is known for his various film roles, could be seen in the Crypto.com arena, which was known as the Staples Center back in October 2021 when he last attended a Lakers game with his son Ray.

The New Jersey born star, who has been a season ticket holder of Lakers games since 1970, has hit the headlines in recent years after his pals claimed that he has been "living like a recluse".

But the dad-of-five looked upbeat and comfortable back in the public eye when he watched on as the the Los Angeles Lakers and the Memphis Grizzlies went up against each other in the tense game.

Wearing a pair of burgundy trousers teamed with a black shirt and a navy suit jacket, Jack looked dapper as he attended the game.

He could be seen wearing some sunglasses and had a pair of binoculars around his neck, which were likely to aid him in seeing and studying every detail of the game.

Mingling before and after the game with famous faces and basketball stars, Jack could be seen with the likes of Larry David and LeBron James.

Welcomed back to the arena with a montage of his most classic films displayed in the scoreboard, Jack and onlookers watched on as clips from The Shining and Batman could be seen playing.

Jack celebrated his 86th birthday on April 22, with him hitting the headlines earlier this month when he was spotted on his balcony in the first photograph of the actor in 18 months.

Looking dishevelled on his Beverley Hills balcony, he donned a peach coloured t-shirt and baggy navy trousers.

In January, a friend pleaded with Jack to at least come out of his home to show he is well, when the unnamed pal told Radar Online: "'He's made it clear his home is his castle.

"But people just wish he'd come out of the house and pop up to tell them how — or at least reassure folks he's OK.

"Jack's in touch with certain relatives — especially Ray, his protégé, who he's so proud of — but his socialising days are long gone."
