Jack McCaffrey claims Stephen Cluxton is 'gung-ho' to play another year with Dublin

Dublin ace Jack McCaffrey thinks that Stephen Cluxton is raring to go with Dublin in 2020.

The Dublin captain's future was up in the air following Dublin's five-in-a-row win and Jim Gavin's departure in the off-season.

But wing-back it's McCaffrey understanding that the 38-year-old is 'gung-ho' to play later this year after undergoing shoulder surgery.

"I think for the last couple of summers, people have been kind of wondering about Clucko’s next move," McCaffrey said.

“My understanding is that he’s gung-ho to play again. I think he had a little operation on his shoulder – I don’t know what his medical situation is so I don’t want to be speculating on that.

"He’s off on the holiday with the lads, and I really hope he’s playing again. He seems to be."

Just when he would be involved with Dublin this year remains in doubt, however.

Cluxton is nursing a shoulder after he was spotted with a sling on his arm in a photo with Dublin teammates in Bali.

The five-in-a-row winning captain rang in the new year in the exotic island as Dublin players enjoy their annual team holiday.

And posing for a photo alongside several teammates including Con O'Callaghan, Paul Mannion and Jonny Cooper, the 38-year-old appears to be sporting the sling for an unknown injury on his right arm.

The Footballer of the Year winner was also seen with the apparent injury when the Dublin team paid a visit to Beaumount hospital on Christmas Day.
