Jack Marshman to fight Edmen Shahbazyan on Jones vs Santos undercard at UFC 239

Jack Marshman will return to action against Edmen Shahbazyan at UFC 239 on July 6.

Marshman, still a full-time paratrooper, won a thrilling all-Welsh battle against John Phillips at UFC London in March – a fight he says he disobeyed the Army to take part in.

That victory at the O2 Arena was a timely boost to his UFC prospects after back-to-back defeats in his previous two fights.

Marshman will now test himself against undefeated middleweight Shahbazyan, one of the promotion’s bright young prospects managed by former bantamweight champion-turned WWE superstar Ronda Rousey.

The 21-year-old has beaten Darren Stewart and Charles Byrd since signing for UFC and holds a professional record of nine wins from nine fights.

The two feature on the undercard of what could be the UFC’s biggest show of 2019 with Jon Jones and Amanda Nunes scheduled to defend their titles.

Light heavyweight champion Jones will defend his title for the second time this year against Thiago Santos while dual-division champion Nunes puts her bantamweight title on the line against former champion Holly Holm in the co-main event.
