Jack Lemmon is recuperating in hospital from pneumonia after having his gall bladder removed his publicist has told the press. The 75-year-old Some Like It Hot actor, is currently being treated at the UCLA Medical Centre in Los Angeles and it is hoped he will return home in a few days. The gall bladder was reportedly not cancerous.
Buena Vista has snubbed the British Press for their latest epic Pearl Harbor because the film has received mostly negative pre-publicity. The World War II epic starring Kate Beckinsale, Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett, released here on Friday, premieres in London tonight, however Buena Vista, who are distributing the film, have withdrawn many tickets originally offered to the press claiming: "We have more than enough publicity."
Alan Rickman is to make a film about the gardener who designed the French palace of Versailles. The Michael Collins star is currently working on the script. "It is a love story which is played out against the backdrop of Versailles at the time of Louis XIV when the expensive gardens were being created" he told reporters "We're just about to send half the script in now and are still working on the other half."
Billy Elliot director Stephen Daldry is to shoot part of his next film on location in Leicestershire according to Ananova. The Hours, starring Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep and Julianne Moore is based around the life of Virginia Woolf and a lot of the main scenes will be shot at the Great Central Railway in Loughbrough. The film's producers have said they will hold an open casting session for 100 extras for the station scenes.
