Jack & Jones in Friars Walk is closing down for good

Another trader in Newport 's Friars Walk has confirmed its closure, with Jack & Jones announcing it will not be reopening its store there.

The men's fashion brand has confirmed it will not be reopening its Newport store after Wales' current lockdown, making it the third retailer to depart the shopping centre this year.

A spokesperson for Bestseller, the Danish clothing company which owns Jack & Jones, confirmed that the Newport store would not be reopening after lockdown.

It is understood that the reasons for the store's departure are due to the increase in empty units and a fall in footfall.

Jack & Jones was one of the original tenants in Friars Walk when it first opened in November 2015.

The centre has been hit with a number of high profile closures in the past year. In 2020 alone Topshop, Schuh, Flying Tiger, Carphone Warehouse, Krispy Kreme, The Body Shop and Chiquito have all closed their doors, while Cineworld is closed indefinitely in the centre.

They have already been joined by Debenhams and Muffin Break so far in 2021.
