Jack Hendry suffers Covid blow as Celtic loanee misses out for Oostende after positive test

Celtic loanee Jack Hendry has tested positive for Covid-19 while on loan at KV Oostende.

The Belgian Pro League side took to Twitter to confirm the news after they revealed their starting line-up for the clash against Zulte Waregem without their ever-present centre-back.

The statement read: “Jack Hendry has tested positive for Covid and unfortunately drops out.”

Despite struggling to hold down a regular spot in the starting line-up at Parkhead, he has been a stand-out at the back for the Belgian side.

The Scotland cap has been a key figure in the backline which has secured one of the top defensive records in the Pro League.

Hendry has been linked with a permanent move to Oostende and there have also been reports of a last-minute January switch to Burnley.

However, the positive coronavirus test would appear to put any permanent Celtic exit this month in doubt.
