Jack Hendry 'set' for Celtic exit as Portuguese clubs line up bids

Celtic defender Jack Hendry could still leave the club with four Portuguese clubs in the running to sign him, according to a report.

The Portuguese window remains open until September 22 which means Hendry could still quit Glasgow in the coming days.

The centre back is yet to play under Neil Lennon and turned down a loan move to Kilmarnock on deadline day as part of Celtic's move to sign Greg Taylor.

But now he could join one of Santa Clara, Tondela or Vitoria Guimaraes in the Portuguese top flight or Farense in the second tier in a season long loan deal, according to the Sunday People.

The Liga Nos window is open later than the rest of European football and clubs have until next Sunday to sign players.

If he joined Santa Clara, he would line up alongside Rangers flop Fabio Cardoso who has earned rave reviews since his move back to Portugal.

The 24-year-old has been at Celtic since the January window in 2018 but has played just 26 times in all competitions.

Last season he made just four league appearances and is yet to feature at all this time around.

Hendry started his career at Partick Thistle before an ill-fated move to Wigan. He enjoyed loan spells at Shrewsbury and MK Dons but at 24 has just 82 club appearances under his belt.
