Jack Hendry’s Celtic departure is now confirmed after he signed permanently for Belgian outfit KV Oostende.
The Scotland defender spent last season on loan there and as part of the agreement with the Scottish Premiership side, Oostende had an option to make the deal permanent.
They confirmed several weeks ago that they planned to do just that, and Hendry’s switch from Celtic Park has now gone through.
The former Dundee man will net the Parkhead club £1.5million, but the Jupiler League club could make a tidy profit if they sell him on quickly.
Hendry’s displays over the last year, coupled with his performances for Scotland, mean interest is high in the 26-year-old and his new club could be tempted to cash in while they can.
Speaking from Scotland where he is having some time off after the Euros, Hendry addressed his new fans in a video posted from the official club twitter account (featuring bagpipes), confirming he’d joined the club on a permanent basis.
He said: “Hello KVO fans. Unfortunately the Euros are over for myself and Scotland. It was a great experience and a massive learning curve for myself.
“Now I’ve got some time to rest up and get ready for the new season but first, here’s some news for you.
“I’m delighted to announce that I;ve signed a deal with KVO. I’m really looking forward to the new season and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
“I hope to see everyone soon. Thank you.”
New Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou will now surely be on the lookout for a centre back with Kris Ajer expected to leave this summer as well.
