Jack Harrison sums up why Patrick Bamford is so admired within Leeds United

Jack Harrison has spoken out about his admiration for Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford.

After a frustrating debut season at Elland Road, the Whites' forward has made a strong start to the new season.

He added goals number two and three to his tally for the season against Wigan Athletic on Saturday to ensure a 2-0 win.

United's number nine has split the fan base since his arrival from Middlesbrough for £7m last summer.

While his strike rate for Leeds cannot be knocked, some parts of the support base believe he lacks a clinical and physical edge up front.

However, the Chelsea product is well on his way to silencing those critics, especially if he continues firing in the goals.

Team-mate Harrison has drawn criticism himself throughout spells of his time in West Yorkshire, although he has also had a positive start to the new season.

The Manchester City loanee has revealed his admiration for Bamford's thick skin, which is now seeing him reap the rewards.

Speaking to the press after beating Wigan, he explained: "He’s not really a striker that lets things get to him, I always admire that about him.

"He just carries on in the game no matter what happens. I think he can only continue scoring from here. You see his potential and his goalscoring ability, so hopefully, he gets a few more for us this season."

The arrival of Eddie Nketiah on a season-long loan from Arsenal has seen Bamford raise his game.

Much is expected of the Gunners' loanee, but Bamford has already shown he is not willing to give up his starting spot without a fight.

Bamford has already spoken this season about his desire to become a better, more reliable outlet for his team, while his strike rate has never been in question.

Harrison believes the striker will only improve as the chances come, due to his relaxed nature in front of goal.

"Yeah he’s always calm and collected in front of goal and I think that’s a special ability of his, just to finish when the chance was there."
