Jack Harrison reveals what Frank Lampard texted him after Leeds United promotion

Leeds United might have suffered a horrible defeat at the hands of Derby County as they lost the play-off semi-finals against Frank Lampard's side in 18/19 - having led 2-0 in the tie at one stage - but they ultimately had the last laugh at Pride Park in 19/20.

The Whites had been confirmed as Champions of the second tier the day before, as Brentford lost to Stoke City following West Bromwich Albion's loss to Huddersfield on the Friday night which saw Leeds promoted.

Jack Harrison has revealed that Lampard texted him following Leeds' victory at Pride Park, where a heavily changed side came out 3-1 winners. There were jubilant scenes on the pitch, from Victor Orta up in the stands and then subsequently in front of the stadium following the game when Leeds players and fans were singing, 'Stop Crying Frank Lampard'.

The song had been a feature of Leeds' first-leg win over Derby in the play-offs in 18/19, as fans mocked Lampard for his response to the Spygate saga to the tune of the Oasis song ,'Stop Crying Your Heart Out.'

"After we got promoted, we were at the stadium and everyone was celebrating outside the stadium and the fans started singing this song again," Harrison told the Daily Mail.

"After everything had settled down, Frank texted me saying "congratulations, you've done really well but I saw you singing that song.

"I said: 'No, I wasn't singing, I promise!'"

Harrison has spoken on several occasions about his experience playing with players once considered world-class at NYCFC, as he played alongside Andrea Pirlo, David Villa and Lampard, with Patrick Vieira managing the side.
