Jack Harrison on why Marcelo Bielsa has Leeds United uniquely placed for nine 'finals'

Jack Harrison believes Marcelo Bielsa has his players primed for a quick start when Leeds United play the first of nine 'finals' this weekend.

After a three-month suspension in the season, the Whites are back in action on Sunday lunchtime when they make the long trip to Cardiff City.

Bielsa's side have have been sat at the top of the Championship table since the season was brought to a halt in March, one point clear of second-placed West Bromwich Albion and seven clear of third-placed Fulham.

Harrison will be front and centre as Leeds look to end a 16-year Premier League exile and he believes that Bielsa's methods mean hopes are high that they will be able to pick up where they left off and continue their five-match winning streak.

"I think one of the biggest things, one of the biggest reasons behind that is depending on how fit we are as a team," he said on a Zoom call to local media. " Marcelo, his methodology, the way everything he does, revolves around how fit we are and if we're fitter than every other team we can out run them and do more on the pitch.

"I think us as a team have been following his way of training and I think we're more than prepared to come back and start strong just like this season and the season before. We always start off the season quite strong so I think. We all feel prepared to just get back after it now."

Cardiff will be their first opponents in a tricky trip to south Wales, and Harrison is under no illusions of how tough the game will be.

"I think this stage we know under the circumstances that every game is going to be a difficult game. Every game is going to have this sensation of a final. We just have to take it game-by-game. We know that every game is going to be difficult but if we concentrate on what we can control and if we play the way we know that we can and prevent as many mistakes as possible, we know that we can be prepared to face any team and that's what we have to have in the back of our minds.

"We know it's going to be a difficult game but if we do the things we know we can do right, there shouldn't be any reason why we can't come out with three points."

As with the Premier League, which resumed on Wednesday evening, the rest of the Championship season will be played behind-closed-doors and Harrison also addressed whether this would offer Leeds an advantage this weekend.

"It's hard to try and take the positives out of everything that's going on, but if you try and take a step back, it's a neutral playing ground," he continued. "Without the fans it kind of takes that atmosphere away, that away sensation and it's a level playing ground for both teams so if we take that approach about it. I don't think we're a team that really lets away fans get to us too much.

"We always have a strong support everywhere we go. The Leeds fans are incredible at away games anyway. We always hear them. Anywhere we go we try not to let the opposing fans have an influence on us but if you take the positives out, it's a level playing ground."
