Jack Harrison is the first Leeds United player to open up on Pontus Jansson's Elland Road return

Jack Harrison has become the first Leeds United player to comment on Pontus Jansson's imminent return to Elland Road.

The Swedish defender, controversially sold by the Whites this summer, will return as a Brentford player on Wednesday night.

After disagreements with Marcelo Bielsa, Jansson was sold to the Bees for £5.5m, a decision which left some supporters upset.

The 28-year-old struck up a strong connection with the Elland Road faithful during his three seasons in West Yorkshire and is bound to get a good reception in midweek.

Ben White has seamlessly slotted into Jansson's spot alongside Liam Cooper at the heart of the defence, which has eased concerns about how they would cope without the towering defender.

Despite beating Wigan Athletic 2-0 on Saturday and moving top of the Championship, talk has already begun to shift to Jansson's return.

Harrison was the first Leeds player to speak about his return and admitted he will be a big threat in midweek.

Speaking to the press after the beating Wigan, he said: "It’ll be good to see him again and good to face him.

"Everyone knows how much of an impact he had for us last year and we've got prepare ourselves for that and find a way around it."

Jansson was made captain by Thomas Frank upon his arrival at Griffin Park. However, it hasn't been an ideal start to the season for Brentford, who have taken four points from their opening three games.

Having lost to Birmingham City and beaten Middlesbrough, they were held by Hull City at home on Saturday.

Having lost Neal Maupay to Brighton and Hove Albion, supporters were delighted to see Said Benrahma back in the matchday squad, for the first time this season.

The Algerian winger registered 10 goals and 14 assists last season, which led to huge speculation over his Bees' future throughout the summer.

Aston Villa were believed to be pursuing his signature, like Kalvin Phillips, but refused to meet Brentford's reported £20m price tag.
