Jack Grealish to Tottenham: Sheffield United manager delivers summer transfer boost to Spurs

Jack Grealish's future will become a lot clearer later today with Aston Villa taking on Derby County in the Championship play-off final.

The midfielder has played a huge part in guiding his boyhood team to Wembley after an upturn in form following the appointment of Dean Smith as manager.

Grealish has been sensational for Villa during the second half of the campaign and it appears that he will be playing in the Premier League next season one way or another.

If indeed the former European Cup winners do end up missing out on the final promotion place, it's highly likely that the 23-year-old will depart to play in the top flight once again.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder believes that will definitely be the case amid interest from Spurs last summer.

"He's such a talent. I think personally he'll be off if they don't go up, he needs to play in the Premier League," he said on Sky Sports' coverage of the play-off final."

Former Spurs ace Darren Anderton was asked by Sportingbet about a potential move for the midfielder in the summer but he believes he would only be a squad player in N17.

"Jack Grealish wouldn’t improve Tottenham’s team and they’ve got better players in his position already," he said. "We’ve seen from his performances for Aston Villa this season that he's a very talented player but he isn’t good enough to walk straight into their starting team.

"Grealish certainly has the potential to develop into a top, top player and he would fit the Spurs ethos, but if he joins it would very much be as a squad player."
