Jack Grealish to Man City deal 'to set off transfer domino effect' and more rumours

The imminent arrival of Jack Grealish to Manchester City could lead to Bernardo Silva leaving the club, according to reports.

City have had a worryingly slow transfer window so far but it is set to soon come to life as the Manchester Evening News understands that Grealish could complete his move to the Etihad in the next 24 hours.

The Blues will break the British transfer record with the £100million acquisition of the Aston Villa captain, with one report suggesting that Grealish is travelling to Manchester on Tuesday in order to conduct his medical and put the finishing touches on the transfer.

While the move is exciting, speculation suggests that it could set off a 'domino effect' that may see some players leave the club.

Mundo Deportivo reports that the arrival of Grealish could lead to the departure of Bernardo Silva, who would like to play in La Liga should he leave the Premier League.

It's claimed that Barcelona are interested in the Portuguese, but are currently focussing on getting players off their wage bill rather than adding them.

That could leave the door open for reigning champions Atletico Madrid, with Diego Simeone reportedly a big fan of Bernardo, but City's asking price may put them off - with the club expected to demand at least the £45m they spent on him from Monaco.

Meanwhile, Gazzetta dello Sport today report that City made a bid earlier this summer for Romelu Lukaku of Inter Milan.

According to SempreInter, the paper today includes a story that City initiated talks for Lukaku, but the Belgian striker 'firmly rebuffed' the idea of moving to City.

There are reports today that Chelsea could make a £100m bid for Lukaku to take him back to Stamford Bridge.
